There has been a lot of rumors regarding what comes after Intel's upcoming 9-series chipset and according to leaked slide over at VR-Zone, Intel currently calls the new chipset 100-series. Judging from details which can been seen in the leaked slide, the 100-series chipset will be quite similar to the 9-series one but with multiple changes in WiFi, Thunderbolt and LAN controllers.


The 100-series chipset will also, just like 9-series chipsets, be based on a single PCH silicon where Intel will carve out several variants by toggling features. According to the leaked slide, there will be four different versions, SKL-S based on LGA socket as well as SKL-H, SKL-Y MPC and SKL-U MCP, all based on BGA package. These four will aim at different market including standard LGA, ultra-low power, notebook and other markets.

As far as the rest of the specification go, Intel is bringing new Snowfield, Douglas Peak and Pine Peak WiFi+BT, WiGig+WiFi+BT and WiGig wireless silicons, new Alpine Ridge Thunderbolt controller and new Jacksonville LAN controller for the 100-series.

Of course, Intel's plans for this year are quite clear but we are yet to hear any details regarding possible launch date for the Skylake platform, other than 2015.
