PC games generate more revenue than console games

Thanks to free-to-play and MOBA titles

According to a report coming from the DFC, PC games market actually generates more revenue globally when compared to console games.

In an interview with PCR, David Cole from DFC Intelligence said that PC gaming dominance will still continue and that :"On a global basis PC games have surpassed console games but the new console systems means consoles should show an increase."

"Among core gamers there is a heavy overlap with most console gamers also playing on a PC. The big difference is that consoles are now the luxury item and PCs are the necessity. Just a few years ago the reverse was true. This means PCs have the broader audience," he added.

The PC games that are most popular are actually free-to-play games as well as multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) games. The same report from DFC also notes that League of Legends and DOTA 2 will continue to be the dominant titles in terms of usage when compared to other games.

The PC AAA games are still doing good and have exceeded any and all expectations in terms of revenue. While everyone was talking that PC games are doomed, the results and reports are definitely painting a completely different picture.
