With it's latest update 96 Valve have updated the AMD driver to the latest version. To be precise the included driver version is now 14.1~beta1.3-1. Apart from that Valve have also been working on the installation routine.


Already on Monday this week Valve put Update 96 into the "Alchemist_Beta repository and meanwhile Update 96 has been moved to stable Alchemist repository. The new file comes as a DVD image, which weighs 2.3 Gigabyte. Next to the graphics driver Valve have been working on the installation routine. The old installer required user interaction from time to time, whereas the new version installs everything on its own.

Overall this sounds like quite a sensible update and we're curious to see the first benchmarks where somebody is going to have a look at perfomance differences of the two driver versions.
