A leaked MediaTek document has now confirmed that the company is indeed working on at least two 64-bit SoCs which should be available by the end of the year. According to a leaked document which showed up at Mydrivers.com site, both chips should be based on the ARM Cortex A53 design which means that these will be aimed at mainstream and entry-level market.


Since the Cortex A53 is pretty much a 64-bit replacement for the Cortex A7, there will not be any major performance improvements while the high-end market will be reserved for ARM Cortex A57 designs.

According to the leaked document, MediaTek will release the MT6732, which will pack four CPU cores while the MT6752 will be an octa-core design. Unfortunately, the document does not reveal any details regarding the GPU, but we guess that MediaTek will go for either the Mali 450 GPU or the PowerVR Series6 GPU.

The good side of the story is that both of these chips will feature LTE connectivity, which should put them in direct competition with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 410 design, a first cheap 64-bit SoC around.

In any case, the Mobile World Congress 2014 is just around the corner and we are sure we will hear more about these parts quite soon.
