Gigabyte is listing R9 290X and R9 290 WindForce

With Custom Cooler

Gigabyte finally started listing their new custom, high-end AMD graphics cards. With the R9 290X as well as R9 290 WindForce cards, the manufacturer has some new cards in its portfolio, which might perform really well and the WindForce cooler definitely has engough potential to handle the heat associated with the new AMD Hawaii chips.

Gigabyte started listing the GV-R929XOC-4GD (Radeon R9 290X) as well as the GV-R929OC-4GD (Radeon R9 290). Both cards received some custom treatment from the manufacturer, where Gigabyte decided to equip the cards with their powerful WindForce 3X 450W cooler. This heatsink features several 8 millimeter as well as 6 millimeter heatpipes and there are three fans taking care of removing heat from the finstack.

A closer look at clock speeds reveals, that the R9 290X's GPU clocks at 1'040 MHz, whereas the reference card does it's job at 1000/947 MHz. Additionally, there is the 512 bit wide memory interface, and the card got equipped with no less than 4 Gigabyte of memory. Regarding the memory clock speeds are at reference clocks: 5'000 MHz.

This time it's still unknown what these cards are going to cost. We expect a certain price premium of roughly 20 to 40 US-Dollar on top of the reference card.
