AMD says FX-Series rumors are not true

Roadmap fake, FX-Series here to stay

Although it is still clear that we will not see a new FX-Series CPU before the end of next year as according to a new roadmap, AMD has no plans to introduced the FX-Series CPU based on Steamroller CPU architecture, the FX-series CPUs are here to stay and will not be EOLed.

The recent roadmap has spread quite quickly and although it did not actually show that the FX-Series CPUs will be EOLed but rather that we will not see any new FX-series CPUs, many jumped to the same EOL conclusion which was quickly turned down by AMD in its recent comments on various sites.

Telling that it did not see that roadmap before, AMD's Manager of APU/CPU Product Reviews James Prior told Gamersnexus.net that FX-Series will definitely not reach end-of-life (EOL) soon. Of course, he did not reveal any details in future FX-Series products but he did note that it is quite rare to see more than a year into the future with roadmaps.

One thing is sure and that is the fact that we most likely will not see any new FX-Series CPUs in the next year, at least judging by the roadmap that James Prior revealed as the real AMD roadmap. And while Kaveri APUs will feature new Steamroller CPU architecture, FX-Series will have to stick to Piledriver one until end of the next year.
