Sapphire rolls out new Radeon R9 270 Boost OC

Another one for the sub-$200 market

In order to make the R9 270 graphics card a bit more interesting, Sapphire has decided to launch the new Radeon R9 270 Boost OC Edition that will feature both Sapphire's Dual-X cooler as well as a decent factory-overclock on the GPU side.

Looking exactly the same as the R9 270 Dual-X launched back in November, the new one features the same compact Dual-X cooler with copper heatpipes, as well as two fans that should keep the factory-overclocked GPU well cooled. It also packs a custom design PCB and needs two 6-pin PCI-Express power connectors in order to keep the custom PCB as well as the overclocked 28nm Curacao GPU well fed with power.

Unlike the reference R9 270 which works at 900MHz base, 925MHz Boost GPU clocks, the Sapphire R9 270 Boost OC kicks it up a notch to 920MHz for the base and 945MHz for the GPU Boost clock. The 2GB of GDDR5 memory pairedup with 256-bit memory interface was left at reference 5.6GHz. In case you missed it earlier, the 28nm Curacao GPU packs 1280 stream processors, 80 TMUs and 32 ROPs.

Unfortunately, Sapphire did not shed any details regarding the actual launch date or the price but judging from the rest of the prices around the net, you can expect it to hit retail/e-tail at around US $180.
