Sony sold over 1 million PS4 during first 24 hours

In North America alone

As you probably already know, Playstation 4 launched on Friday, November 15th in North America and according to first figures coming from Sony, it managed to sell over one million units during the first 24 hours.

Sony is definitely quite happy with these first fugures and according to Andrew House, president and group CEO, Sony Computer Entertainment, the "PS4 was designed with an unwavering commitment to gamers, and we are thrilled that consumer reaction has been so phenomenal.”

Earlier, Ubisoft revealed that Sony is having much higher pre-order number for its Playstation 4 than its competition, Microsoft's Xbox One. According to analysts, Sony is expected to sell around 2.5 to 3 million units in North America on Q4 2013.

The launch was not perfect as console did experience some issues including bricking when updated to firmware 1.5, issues with HDMI port as well as expected issues with Playstation Network.

In any case and when everything is taken into an account, Sony is having a really good launch and we will have to wait and see if Microsoft will be in a similar situation.
