As most partners did, MSI has also announced its own version of the Radeon R9 270 graphics card, the MSI R9 270 Gaming series graphics cards that will feature decent factory overclock as well as the quite famous TwinFrozr IV cooler in recognizable black/red color scheme.
In case you missed it earlier, the R9 270 is based on the 28nm Curacao GPU which is quite similar to the Pitcairn GPU, earlier seen with the Radeon HD 7870. It packs 1280 stream processors, 80 TMUs, 32 ROPs and comes equipped with 4GB of GDDR5 memory paired up with a 256-bit memory interface.
MSI's own R9 270 Gaming graphics card apparently draws power from two 6-pin PCI-Express power connectors which should give it an extra overclocking headroom and works at 975MHz maximum Boost GPU clock, while 4GB of GDDR5 memory ended up at reference 5.6GHz.
MSI's R9 270 Gaming series graphics card will definitely be one of the best on the market thanks to its TwinFrozr IV dual-slot dual-fan cooler that certainly did a great job on some graphics cards before and will definitely have no trouble in handling temperatures on the R9 270 as well.
Unfortunately, MSI did not shed any details regarding the price or the availability date but a quick check at our favorite price search engine shows it listed with a lowest price set at around €165. AMD's suggested retail price for the R9 270 starts at US $179/€134 ex. VAT, so MSI is not asking for a big premium on its TwinFrozr IV cooler.
