Valve has released a new video that demonstrates its Steam Controller in a couple of game titles including those in where controller functions in "legacy mode".
Valve has released a new demonstration video where it shows its Steam Controller in games like Portal, Civilization 5, CounterStrike: Global Offensive as well as Papers Please and it appears that it does a pretty good job in all games, despite the fact that it, in some games at least, functions in "legacy mode" which simply emulates mouse and keyboard.
Although there is a lot of things that need to be ironed out, especially when it comes to strategy type games like Civilization 5, the controller certainly does a great job, for a gamepad at least. Although we would rather be playing some games with keyboard and mouse combination, Steam Controller does sound like a great "living room" alternative.
According to Jeff Bellinghausen, engineer at Valve, the gamepad will allow you to play any first-person shooter without any kind of auto-aim features.
In any case it all looks pretty good for now, especially if you consider that this is still a prototype that will ship with 300 Steam Machines that Valve will give away to lucky beta testers.
