It has been quite clear for some time that AMD did a lot to pull EA/DICE in a deal that will offer Battlefield 4 as a part of AMD exclusive bundle that will be available for select partners and it appears that AMD spent between US $5 and $8 million in order to make it a reality.
The deal might turn out to be a great investment for AMD considering that it will get an exclusive bundle but also allow DICE to an early look at Mantle, a new API that AMD plans to put in direct competition with DirectX and OpenGL. The first results will be seen as soon as DICE releases a Battlefield 4 Mantle update in December 2013.
The Battlefield 4 deal is definitely the biggest one that AMD might scored, considering the popularity of the title. It will definitely push a lot of gamers to the AMD side and it definitely has a chance to become on of the biggest wins for AMD.
The question if the investment will actually pay off still remains but even if it does not, AMD will still get a lot of positive rep for the deal.
