Zalman has introduced a refresh of its quite famous and quite effective CPU cooler designs by releasing the new CNPS2X (computer noise prevention system). Based solely on copper, the compact CNPS2X is capable of handling CPUs with TDP of up to 120W and features support for most currently available CPU sockets.
As noted, the new Zalman CNPS2X features a quite recognizable Zalman design and uses a copper based paired up with a single 8mm copper heatpipe connected to a surrounding copper fin heatsink. The heatsink is cooled by a center placed 80mm PWM fan.
With 84x84x27mm dimensions and hefty 83g weight, the Zalman CNPS2X is certainly aimed mostly at HTPCs and smaller cases but can surely cope with a lot of CPUs considering that it can handle CPUs with up to 120W TDP.
As noted earlier, the CNPS2X supports most currently available sockets including Intel's LGA115x, and AMD's AM3+/AM3, FM2 and FM1 sockets.
The new Zalman CNPS2X is scheduled to appear sometimes later this month with a suggested retail price of around US $30.
