Compulab launches Kickstarter for its fanless mini-PC
Based on a powerful GTX 1080 GPU
Compulab is launching a Kickstarter campaign for its latest mini-PC Airtop2. This little gaming PC is completely fanless and it can pack a lot of power. On the flagship model, the CPU department is based on an Intel Core i7-7700K and the GPU side sports a desktop version of the GTX 1080 from NVIDIA.
The company is offering several models based on different components, however the more interesting is the one called "Inferno". All the Airtop mini-PCs share the same layout and design. The GPU is directly attached to the left side panel and linked to the motherboard with a flexible PCI-cable, whiel the right panel covers the CPU area. In this way, both panels work as two giant cooling surfaces.
Inside the Inferno there is the same setup that you can find in a regular Airtop2 system. Compulab is using a custom motherboard based on the Intel C236 chipset which is an enterprise version of the Intel Z270. The motherboard and the chassis allow for the installation of up to four 2.5" drives, two NVMe SSDs and four DDR4 sticks. Although the rather small size on the I/O panels there are several connectors, for example there are two Intel GbE ports, six USB 3.0 ports and optional WiFi card.
According to Compulab, the Airtop 2 Inferno is a future-proof gaming PC since they will offer several graphics card, CPU and motherboard updates. On Kickstarter there are several Inferno versions available. If you want the system ready to use, you have to pay at least 3'000 Dollars, however there is a version that costs more than 7'000 Dollars. On following you can find the link to the Kickstarter campaign.
