Two Gemini Lake motherboards have been released

Gigabyte and ASRock have released Gemini Lake motherboards with pre-installed Intel Pentium Silver and Celeron processors. At the moment the motherboard are available with the Intel Quad-Core Processor J4105 Celeron pre-installed. However Gigabyte mentioned that its motherboard will be available with Intel Pentium Silver/ Intel Celeron processors.


Gigabyte is of the first companies to release a Gemini Lake motherboard. With the J/N motherboard, the company is offering a mini-ITX model which sports one PCIe 2.0 x16 slot, and both parallel and serial ports. Storage wise there are two M.2 slots and two SATA ports. In addition there is an Intel Wi-Fi module and with an extra fee you can add an Intel CNVi wireless networking module as well.

ASRock with the J4105B-ITX offers a motherboard that is very similar to the Gigabyte one. The main difference regards the memory slots. While the Gigabyte J4005N-D2P offers one UDIMM DDR4 slot, the ASRock J4105B-ITX comes with SO-DIMM slots. Apart from that, the ASRock J4105B-ITX offers one PCIe 2.0 x1 slot and one M.2 slot. In addition there are four SATA ports.

According to the manufacturers, all the new boards are fanless and can handle 4K video. Furthermore there will be pre-built systems built based on this motherboards like Intel NUC and Zotac Z-Box systems.
