Coffee Lake CPUs for notebooks?

Although the acclaimed launch date will be somewhen during the upcoming weeks news leaks related to Coffee Lake-H are starting to make it through. This time Tieba found yet another leak in the CPU-Z database. The Core i7-8720HQ could be the first six core mobile chip from Intel.



According to the screenshots, the upcoming Intel Core i7-8720HQ hits 2'414 points in the multi-core and 370 points in the single-core routine, while the Core i7-6700K with stock memory speed is able to achieve 2'377 points in multi-core and 474 points in single-core. In other words the Core i7-8720HQ is on the same level of the Core i7-6700K. We know that the Core i7-8720HQ packs two more cores and four more threads, however there is a massive frequency difference.

The Core i7-8720HQ packs a base clock of 2.40 GHz and the boost clock should be set to 3.60 GHz. At the moment the informations shown on CPU-Z aren't completely clear, according to CPU-Z the processor might come with 45W TDP and might be built in the same 1440-pin BGA package as 7th generation Core mobile processors.
