Snapdragon 845 SoC might power Windows 10 PCs soon

During H2 2018

During the Qualcomm's 2nd annual Snapdragon Technology Summit in Maui, we have seen the first "Always Connected" PCs. Microsoft and hardware partners like ASUS and HP were keen to show off the new PCs with Qualcomm inside. According to Microsoft, with the Always Connected PCs we will see a "a new culture of work".

The upcoming ASUS NovaGo and the HP Envy x2 are powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC. According to the first informations, some Windows features will work natively while others will work via emulation. The Windows experience should be great as well as the battery life. During the Summit, Qualcomm has unveiled the Snapdragon 845 SoC which will be available during next year. This upcoming SoC will be more capable at running Windows OS compared the Snapdragon 835.

The Snapdragon 845 will be made by Samsung on its latest 10nm LPP process. According to latest rumors, the Snapdragon 845 will be up to 25% faster at CPU calculations and up to 30% faster at GPU bound calculations. Furthermore it should pack greater power efficiency. According to Fudzilla, Snapdragon 845 PCs will start to be released from H2 2018.
