AMD has stealthily updated its German website with new specifications for its Radeon RX 560 graphics cards. AMD's website now shows that there are two RX 560 graphics cards available. The new one comes with 896 stream processors, which is 128 cores short of the original specification of 1'024 stream processors.



This means that at the moment there are two different versions of the card in the wild, one with 14 CUs and another with 16 CUs. The performance between two graphics cards with the same product name may significantly vary. With the RX 560, AMD upgraded shader engines compared to its predecessor RX 460. The RX 460 featured 896 stream processors and 14 CUs, that is the same numbers that you can find now on the "new" RX 560 graphics card.

It's not the first time that the company rebrand an old model with a new name. AMD already few years ago rebranded its GPU lineup to RX without changing the hardware. The problem now is that both cards are called in the same way and there isn't any simple way to determine which models are which. If you are going to buy a RX 560 graphics card we suggest to pay extra attention to the specification page before purchasing your new graphics card.
