MSI releases Intel TXE 3.0 BIOS update

For 100, 200, 300-series motherboards

MSI announced a BIOS update for its 100, 200, and 300-series Gaming and Pro motherboards that upgrades the Intel Trusted Execution Engine (TXE) to the 3.0 version. This update improve the security of your system and your BIOS.

According to MSI, the update fixes recent security compromises that have been identified and addressed by Intel. According to the statement, if you are going to install this BIOS update you should fix security vulnerabilities which allowed attackers to gain unauthorized access to platform features.

During the last months, Intel has had several security flaws of this nature, however several motherboard manufacturers have released new versions of Intel Active Management Technology (AMT), Intel Standard Manageability (ISM) and Small Business Technology (SBT) that should improve the overall security.

This is just one of the latest security threats available with 300-series motherboards and MSI appears to be the first to offer the update.
