Following the leak of yesterday from expreview.com about the Core i7-8700K, PCOnline has jumped the gun testing the upcoming Intel Core i5-8600K processor on an Intel Z370 series motherboard. Since there aren't more details on the test setup, we don't know what kind of memory has been used.
These new results have been gathered using several benchmarks like Cinebench R15, Fire Strike Extreme and many others. At stock clocks the Intel Core i5-8600K's performance is very close to the Intel's Core i7-7700K in all benchmarks. In other words those new tests confirm previous rumors as well as previous testing, showing that the Intel Core i5-8600K is definitely a very quick chip.
A closer look at the results gathered with the multi-threaded benchmark routine like Cinebench R15 shows that the system with Core i5-8600K scores 866 points running the multi-threaded routine, while the Intel Core i7-7700K scores 981 points. Apart from that running the single-threaded routine the performance is on a similar level as well.
The upcoming i5-8600K works at a base clock of 3.60GHz and a boost clock of 4.10GHz on all cores. Apart from that it might most likely be combined with 9 MB of L3 cache. In addition it will feature six cores without Hyperthreading. Furthermore this chip is supposed to launch at a very reasonable price, which is expected to be around $300 US.
