During the last Computex 2017 ASRock has shown their first batch of X299 motherboards for Intel's Basin Falls platform. Meanwhile the company is slowly releasing all the models and today we have more details on the X299 OC Formula. This model is targeting professional overclockers and comes with a lot of interesting features.
Compared to the high-end X99 OC Formula, ASRock has changed the color scheme and apart form that the design has been improved. Since this ATX motherboard is designed for overclockers there are only four DIMM slots. There are five full-sized PCIe slots with steel reinforcements, one PCIe x4 slot and one PCIe x1 slot. This motherboard features an eight-layer PCB with 2oz of pure copper and 13 power-phase design.
In the case of storage you'll find eight angled SATA ports and two M.2 slots. Due to the placement of the SATA ports, we believe that two ports will be based on an ASMedia chip. Looking for additional features we find a debug display, several onboard buttons and support for USB 3.1 ports. Although this board should be as simple as possible, we see a dedicated audio solution in the bottom left corner.
ASRock equips the X299 OC Formula with one PS/2 port, six USB 3.0 ports and two USB 3.1 Gen2 ports. Furthermore there are two Gigabit Ethernet ports and the analogue audio panel with optical out. So far ASRock has not revealed any details on pricing and availability regarding the X299 OC Formula.
