GEIL is finally bringing RGB lighting to their EVO X memory lineup. Memory modules were some of the very last components allowing for RGB lighting, since it can be quite tricky to control the color over the SMBus. However GEIL on this memory uses 4-pin RGB connector, in other words you have to wire your memory to the motherboard.
According to GEIL, all the upcoming memory kits are compatible with AMD’s 300 series based motherboards as well as Ryzen processors. The lighting is controlled through a 4-pin RGB header. The software allows the user to change the settings with just a few clicks. On the GEIL EVO X RGB there are several options that can be selected like, for example you can choose which base color to use, the response time of the lighting bar can be altered or you can even link the temperature of your system to the color on the memory.
The EVO X RGB DDR4 modules are available with 2133MHz and CL15-15-15-36 timings and 2400MHz and CL16-16-16-36 timings. In addition they are available in both 3000MHz and 3200MHz with CL16-18-18-36 timings. There are 8GB, 16 GB and 32 GB kits. All kits are available with white or black heatspreader. So far GEIL has not revealed any details on pricing and availability, but we’re sure those kits are soon going to surface in the different price comparison portals all around the globe.
