These days, the Bitcoin is experiencing another hype as currently the price for 1BTC is at a whopping $2'638 US. That means the value of one Bitcoin tripled within a very short period of time. As it always is with Bitcoin mining a big hype kicks in when the exchange rate explodes - as it just did. A few weeks ago we have seen rumors about upcoming mining GPUs and well here is a new card from Biostar now.
Even Biostar is now offering cards for coin miners, which go by the name VA47D5RV42 and it's based on AMD’s Polaris 10 GPU. The card uses a cooler that is similar to the one, which can be found on the RX 570 (VA5705RV42). Therefore there is a dense aluminum fin stack, several heatpipes and two fans. The plastic shroud has been painted black with red accents. At the moment it’s still unclear which kind of PCB Biostar will use on this model, but according to the latest rumors the manufacturer might use a custom PCB. Furthermore it packs less stream processors than a standard RX 470 graphics card.
Checking out the frequencies, the Biostar VA47D5RV42 works at 1200MHz/1750MHz Boost/Memory clocks, while a reference RX 470 works at 1200MHz/1650MHz Boost/Memory. Compared to the reference models, the card comes with a higher memory frequency.
So far there is no definitive date when Biostar is going to release these cards into the market, but since the hype train is rolling now, we’d expect this to happen rather sooner than later.
