Corsair launches Dominator Platinum Special Edition

Up to DDR4 3600MHz

Corsair shows new Dominator Platinum memory on almost a yearly basis. Since quite a while the vendor is only marketing these kits as special editions, being numbered. The latest Dominator Platinum Special Edition Torque makes no exception with that rule.

With this special edition Corsair is using the same heatspreader and 10-layer PCB as always but the color scheme has changed. The bottom part is kept in a matte and hairline brushed black while the cooling fins are orange and on top of them there is a heat-treated bar showing the same color gradient you can see at exhausts of motor bikes for instance. The top bar also houses the lighting.

According to Corsair the kits are fully compatible with Intel’s X99 as well as 200-series motherboards. Apart from that each module has been tested and screened, which sounds reassuring regarding overclocking potential. So far there should be kits available supporting clock frequencies of up to 3600MHz. As memory overclocking is often limited by the CPU and not directly the memory it could also very well be that on certain platforms and in combination with pre-tested CPUs those kit could even achieve higher clock speeds.

If you feel like this is the perfect memory for your build, you can find those kits in Corsair’s web shop. So far the CMD32GX4M2C3200C14T costs 449 Euro, being a 32GB DDR4-3200 CL14 kit. Regarding the DDR4-3600 kit we can’t find any information as of today. Nevertheless we would expect it to feature the same specifications as the current Dominator Platinum 32GB DDR4-3600 kit, featuring CL16 latencies. Compared to the DDR4-3200 kit the price will be even higher, most likely breaching the 500 Euro barrier.
