The A320 Grenade from MSI is an entry-level motherboard that comes with a few interesting features. Compared to the X370 Gaming Pro that MSI has unveiled a few days ago, the Grenade is a cheaper, sub-80 euro board, that still packs quite a few goodies. At a first glance the A320 Grenade looks very similar to the B350 Mortar.
The main difference regarding the two new models are the chipset and the overall design. Like the B350 Mortar the A320 Grenade is based on an micro-ATX form factor with two DIMM slots. There is red backlight underneath the PCH cooler and there are steel reinforcements on one full-sized PCIe slot. In general the layout is quite simple. There are two full-sized PCIe slots and one of them have been equipped with steel-reinforcements.
In the storage department there are four SATA ports and only two of them have been angled. Apart from that you get one M.2 slot allowing the installation of differently sized SSDs. The M.2 slot is placed in the middle of the motherboard and it’s compatible with 2280 units.
In terms of pricing this particular board is placed somewhere between the entry-level and mid-range market segment. In the case of the A320 we generally believe that there are some interesting boards based on this chipset. In order to keep the price low, MSI has changed the gigabit Ethernet compared to higher end boards with a model from Realtek. The MSI A320 Grenade will become available during next month for a price around USD $85.
