Intel unveils new Xeon E5-2699A CPU

Newer and faster version

During the Super Computing 2016 conference, Intel has unveiled the new Xeon E5-2699A v4 CPU, a faster version of the currently available Broadwell-based E5-2699 v4.

Just as the previously available Xeon E5-2699 v4 CPU, the new Xeon E5-2699A v4 packs 22 cores, 55MB of L3 cache and pretty much the same specifications. Thanks to a now mature 14nm process, Intel managed to increase the base clock from 2.2GHz to 2.4GHz while the boost clock got up from 3.4GHz to 3.6GHz.

The new version should have around 4.8 percent increase in LINPAC performance, mostly due to a higher clock speed.

The new Xeon E5-2699 v4 should be available to customers soon with an MSRP of US $4,938.
