Intel's new Skylake-X LGA 2066 CPU pictured

Shows the new socket

Today, we have a chance to check out the first picture of Intel's upcoming Skylake-X CPU which is rumored to be based on a new LGA 2066 socket and available in 6-, 8- and 10-core versions.

Although it is just an engineering sample and does not show a lot of details, it is good to know that Intel is shipping those samples suggesting that the CPU is on track for its release sometime next year.

Intel's Skylake-X will be a direct successor of Intel's Broadwell-E CPUs, come in same 6-, 8- and 10-core configuration and based on a new CPU socket, called LGA 2066. The LGA 2066 will be the largest socket from Intel and Skylake-X will bring a total of 44 PCIe lanes, support for DDR4-2666 memory and have a 140W TDP.

As noted, Intel is expected to launch the new Skylake-X CPUs sometime next year.
