According to the latest information, it appears that we will first see a refresh of the existing Pascal GPU architecture from Nvidia, before moving to the new Volta architecture.
According to a report coming from Baidu, Nvidia plans to release Pascal 2.0 refresh architecture sometime next year, which will probably mean that we will see cheaper versions of the Titan X Pascal and GTX 1080 graphics cards, based on the same GPU. This is pretty similar to what Nvidia did with the Kepler architecture earlier.
Nvidia has recently made a deal with Samsung to make GPUs on 14nm FinFET manufacturing process, which should bring some improvements over the current 16nm FinFET process at TSMC.
Micron is also expected to get better yields on GDDR5X memory which means that we might see this memory on the entire Pascal refresh lineup, except probably the entry-level GP107 lineup.
Nvidia GPU Boost 3.0 should have no trouble in reaching and maintaining higher clocks on 14nm process and we will possibly see more custom versions from Nvidia AIB partners.
