iFixit managed to get their hands on HTC's Vive VR headset and tear it down, which was surprisingly an easy feat, giving the Vive an 8 out of 10 score for repairability.
While most early buyers still did not get their own HTC Vive VR headset, all eyes were pointed at iFixit and finally those guys managed to get their hands on one and tear it down completely, including both the VR headset itself as well as controllers and IR sensors.
The HTC Vive VR headset is quite easy to completely disassemble which also means that DIY repair will be easy. As the controller uses some parts from the Steam Controller, this also means that it will be possible to find replacement parts.
There is a lot of chips and sensor behind the VR headset and it is quite a complicated device, but apparently, not so hard to repair.
