Raspberry Pi 2 gets OpenGL hardware acceleration

Makes some decent games playable

It appears that Raspberry Pi 2 has go some rather interesting improvement that should bring some much needed update to the graphics power of the small computer as it finally got an OpenGL driver which brings hardware acceleration.

Following the launch of the new Raspbian, the Raspberry Pi 2 got an experimental Open GL driver which uses Raspberry Pi 2 GPU for hardware acceleration and should provide a much needed improvement in graphics performance.

According to the blog post, the new OpenGL hardware acceleration is much better compared to the default software OpenGL renderer and, according to the post, "makes some quite decent OpenGL games playable on the Pi."

The new Raspbian release also brings plenty of updated standard applications like the Sonic Pi, Scratch, Mathematica and Node-RED, a new library versions of the WiringPi, Python and Java as well as number of other updates and bugs fixes, including USB audio compatibility and more.

Raspberry Pi 2 was an interesting little system and the new OpenGL hardware acceleration just makes it even better.
