Seagate has updated its line of NAS-optimized hard disk drives with the introduction of the new and largest capacity version, the Seagate 8TB NAS HDD.
Described by Seagate as the "largest NAS-optimized drive on the market," the new 8TB NAS HDD is optimized for use in tower NAS (Network Attached Systems) with up to eight drive bays. With three-year warranty, 180TB/year WRL (Workload Rate Limit) and MTBF or 1 million hours, the 8TB NAS HDD from Seagate promises high capacity as well as great reliability.
The Seagate 8TB NAS HDD spins its platters at 5,900 RPM and has a dual-plane balanced motors, which should offer better tolerance to vibration.
According to Seagate, the new 8TB NAS HDD is already shipping to select customers and should be available worldwide by the end of Q1 2016. Unfortunately, Seagate did not reveal any details regarding the price.
