The Khronos Group has announced that it will not release its Vulkan 1.0 API this year. Although the specification for the new API is complete, Khronos Group is still receiving implementation feedback.
According to the press release from the Khronos Group, the Vulkan 1.0 API will not be coming this year and this is just a minor delay since the release is imminent. The new Vulkan 1.0 API is promising significant improvements as it is a low-overhead API, similar to AMD's Mantle API.
Recently, Google picked Vulkan API as an exclusive API for Android OS and recent benchmarks have been showing that Vulkan API has significant performance gain compared to currently available APIs.
Hopefully we will see more news at CES 2016 in January next year.
