So far there have been quite a few rumors regarding NVIDIA's upcoming GeForce GTX 950 but there have not yet been any details neither on the specifications nor release date. As it turns out the website Hardware Battle is jumping the gun showing the specs.

Hardware Battle already communicated the specifications of the Radeon R9 Fury X before it's launch and it turned out they were right. That being said, it could well be they're right again. According to Hardware Battle the GTX 950 is going to be based on a Maxwell GPU, labelled GM206-25x. There might be 768 shader units as well as a 128 bit memory interface, which is going to address 2 Gigabyte of GDDR5 memory. GPU standard clocks are expected to be in the range of 1150 to 1250 MHz and the boost clock could be between 1350 and 1450 MHz. Apart from that the memory might be running at 6600 MHz to 6750 MHz resulting in about 110 GB/s memory bandwidth.

The most interesting piece of information in the announcement is the fact, that there should be an 8-pin power connector on the PCB. Keeping in mind that the maximum board power is specified at 90 watts an additional 8-pin connector would be seriously overengineered. One single PCIe 8-pin power connector can provide up to 150 Watts. Combined with the 75 Watts, which come from the PCIe slot itself this makes for 225 watts. Maybe there are going to be some seriously overclocked cards available, which require much more power. But still, an 8-pin connector is overengineered even with a massive factory overclock.

Regarding the release date August 17 has been mentioned. This would mean that NVIDIA is not going to launch this card during Gamescom. Instead they chose to wait a few days to then show the card. Maybe the feel that this product would not get enough attention during that time, since Intel is launching their new Skylake processors at Gamescom.
