EK Water Blocks, a well known manufacturer of liquid cooling equipment from Slovenia, has released its newest full-cover water block aimed to be used with MSI's Gaming 4G and TwinFrozr V series of Nvidia Geforce GTX 980 graphics cards, the EK-FC980 GTX TF5.
The EK-FC980 GTX TF5 is aimed to be used with MSI's non-reference design Geforce GTX 980 series graphics cards. Since it is based on a full-cover design, the new EK-FC980 GTX TF5 water block directly cools the GPU, RAM as well as the VRM part of the graphics card.
The EK-FC980 GTX TF5 also comes with a unique central inlet split-flow cooling engine design for best possible cooling performance, which also works with reversed water flow as well as offers great hydraulic performance, which allows it to be used with liquid cooling systems with weaker pumps.
The base of the EK-FC980 GTX TF5 is made of nickel-plated electrolytic copper while the top is made of POM Acetal or acrylic (depending on the version). It also comes with pre-installed screw-in brass standoffs and will be available with an aesthetic retention backplate, as a separate purchase, which also somewhat cools the backside of the graphics card PCB.
As noted, the EKWB EK-FC980 GTX TF5 will be available in Nickel and Acetal+Nickel versions, both priced at €112.95 while the backplate will be available in two versions as well, Black and Nickel, priced at €29.95 and €37.95, respectively.
