Judging by the new Intel roadmap leaked by VR-Zone, it seems like Intel will have quite a busy year ahead with Broadwell-K CPUs planned for Q2 2015 release, followed by Braswell in the same quarter and Skylake-S and Skylake-U processors in Q3 2015.
While it is generally believed that Intel might skip desktop Broadwell parts, mostly since Skylake will be coming soon after it, it appears that sometime around Computex 2015 in June, we might see a quad-core 14nm Broadwell-K unlocked CPUs, at least judging from the new Intel roadmap leaked by
Chinese VR-Zone. These will feature compatibility with Intel Z97/H97 Express chipset motherboards with LGA1150 socket and have a TDP of 65W. These will be based on Broadwell CPU architecture and feature faster Iris Pro graphics parts with eDRAM cache and up to 48 Execution Units (EUs).
The roadmap gets a bit more interesting when it comes to the upcoming Skylake architecture. Set to be launched in Q3 2015, the Skylake-S will be available in dual- and quad-core versions and feature three different TDP ranges, including unlocked K-parts with 95W TDP, 65W TDP chips and 35W ones. While the unlocked Skylake-S K-parts will have an unlocked multiplier, the 35W and 65W parts will feature a locked multiplier. The entire lineup will be compatible with the new LGA1151 socket.
The roadmap also reveals that Intel is also preparing the new HEDT platform with Broadwell-E Extreme Edition chips that should arrive in Q1 2016. This means that Haswell-E will be hanging on until the end of this year, and hopefully we will see some improvements with the 14nm Broadwell architecture and Broadwell-E parts.
Intel is also preparing Braswell SoC, which should replace the Bay Trail-D SoC in the low N-series market and these should also launch in Q2 2015.
Although the roadmap does not list it, the next big thing from Intel, in the desktop market, is the Cannonlake architecture which is expected sometime in 2016.
