SFX form-factor power supplies allows the PSU to be integrated into a smaller configuration, but due to their small size these PSUs usually lack a proper cooling system, and this is exactly why SilverStone presents a new SFX-L model with the SX500-LG.
The SFX-L PSU form-factor does not really exist, as it is in fact an SFX power supply that is 30mm wider, reaching dimensions of 130 x 125 x 63.5mm, instead of 100 x 125 x 63.5mm. This small dimension adjustment allows manufacturers to ad a 120mm fan instead of a 80mm one and provide both better performance as well as lower noise levels.
The Silverstone SX500-LG is a 500W PSU with a single +12V rail that can give 480W (40A), with 80Plus Gold certification. Its 120mm fan is silent and will allow a much better cooling for the PSU. It will be possible to mount it in an ATX location through a converter available in its bundle.
Available on market from January 28, the SilverStone SX500-LG will be priced at $89,11 (excl. VAT).
