OCZ's new Vertex 460A SSD shows up

With Toshiba A19 series MLC NAND

OCZ's newest Vertex 460A SSD, which is pretty much a new version of the Vertex 460 but with a different MLC NAND flash, has been spotted and should officially launch soon.

While some manufacturers simply change the flash memory without changing the name of the product, OCZ did not want to make that mistake with the Vertex 460 SSD which will now be available in a different version with new MLC NAND, called the Vertex 460A. Spotted by Expreview.com, the new Vertex 460A is pretty much the same as the Vertex 460 but features Toshiba's A19 series MLC NAND, instead of the older Toshiba 19nm MLC NAND. As expected, the new Vertex 460A is still based on the same Barefoot 3 M10 controller.

The new Vertex 460A also got a branding upgrade as well as OCZ's new 3-year ShieldPlus warranty. The OCZ ShieldPlus warranty eliminates all the hassle surrounding support and warranty claims which includes no shipping cost and no hassle, but is currently only available for the USA and EU regions.

According to our sources at OCZ, the new Vertex 460A should have the same performance as the Vertex 460, so you can expect maximum read and write performance of up to 545MB/s and 525MB/s, depending on the capacity, as well as random read and write performance of up to 95k and 90k IOPS.

The Vertex 460A should also have the same price and should be on store shelves by end of November.
