8-series chipset thread #1
Close to the release date, the new 8-series chipset called Lynx Point will be on the new motherboards: B85 (entry level platform), Q85, Q87, H87 and the most desired Z87 (enthusiast platform).
Let see together the new features of this chipset!

Lynx Point was created to work hand in hand with the new Haswell cpu: the chipset will handle all I/O peripheral by connecting directly to the CPU via a DMI Link while, the digital video signals will be integrated into the CPU. The chipset will manage only the VGA signal if this is integrated into the motherboard.
The integrated SATA controller will be SATA III (6 Gbps) and the new PCH will have a controller USB3.0 SuperSpeed and USB2.0 (like 7-series).

The first revision of the Intel chipset (called C1) has a bug related to the management of USB 3.0 ports.
The chipset bug causes affected USB 3.0 devices to disappear after entering standby. Once they are unplugged and plugged back in, they are recognized again and work as intended.

To overcome this problem, Intel has already prepared a second revision of the chipset (called C2). Unfortunately the first mobos will have the old revision and will have the bug. Only at the end of July will be available the mobo C2 for the manufactures and only in September we will see the mainboard "fixed".
