Project GAMMA #4

Let's do some modding!

Mod 1: Modified air Intake and Outake, for a better airflow

If you remove the mesh, the area is 1.8x bigger, so it has a better airflow.

The mesh is fixed by 3 screws, so I took it off.

Sorry didn't took pictures of it

But you can hardly tell the difference

Mod 2: Painted motherboard

Well, it was more difficult than expected. First, I wanted to paint only the MOSFET cover, but then, I realized that if I painted the small lines, it would be far better!!! Well, anyway, it took me ages to cover all this thing, and the first results were, well, really bad...

First, going to pick up some red paint, and test it

Search paint     Test paint

Separating the motherboard pieces

Separate   Separate

And putting some paint tape on it

Paint Tape   Paint Tape   Paint Tape   Paint Tape   Paint Tape

Painting!

Painting   Painting   PaintingPainting Done   Painting

After removing the tape, a bad surprise was waiting me... That's why I won't buy cheap paint tape again!!!

Bad Paint   Bad Paint

Someone can find it very artistic and beautiful, but I am a bit fussy, so I took Acetone and removed the paint who was unwanted

Acetone   AcetoneAcetone

Finally done!

Done   Done   Done   Done   DoneDone

Mounting it back on the motherboard

back   back   Back   Back   back

End Comparison between before and after:

end   End

Voilà, so don't forget to share your thoughts about it!!!

Mod 3: Modified CPU Waterblock XSPC Raystorm with Black-Red theme

The original one was too normal, so we modded it to match the color theme of the build

   mod   mod

Nice one, huh?

Mod 4: Modded NZXT. bottom LED panel, will show "ΩΛΚΣ"

I'm not a big fan of the over-illuminated rigs. It looks like discos.

So, on the windowed side, on the bottom, the case have a NZXT logo illuminated with leds.

I decided to remove it, but keep the red style of the rest of the bottom.

So I just cutted it and removed the led, added some epoxy glue to fill the holes, and then I painted it in red. Here are some pictures:

ml   ml   lm   ml

Final look:

ml

Mod 5: Painted the back of the case with the greek letter "γάμμα", Gamma, "γ"

Here we are! After doing this mod, I regret it, It would be better without it...
But anyway, I made it and can't undo it, here are the pictures:

First, going to remove all fingerprints! (fussy fussy, but this mate black is a pain to handle without mark it!!!)

ml

Then add some BETTER paint tape

ml

A picture of the greek letter, with lines to draw it better

ml

Then draw the lines on the tape

ml

Finally drawing the letter and cut the tape with a cutter

ml   ml   ml

All the tape removed, how it looks like:

ml

Mod 6: Paint on the right side of the window this sentence: "Strip the flesh and salt the wound"

I knew from my experience with this paint that painting with a lot of small details won't render really good.
So I thought about other ways to do this small mod.
The best way I found was to put some red and glossy sticker on the part of the case and then cut it with a cutter (obviously) to have good details.

Here are the results:

First, the sentence (was inspired by Borderlands 2 )

ml

Windowed side and red sticker roll (got it for 5 USD)

ml   ml   ml   ml

I pasted the printed sentence on the red sticker with some paint tape and began my job

ml   ml

Finished!

ml

Removed the extra sticker and took some pictures (sorry for the bad light, it was almost at night)

ml   ml   ml

Done!!! Share your thoughts about it

Mod 7: Paint of the ΩΛΚΣ Logo on the case, somewhere

Mod 8: Modded Logitech Z323

Small painting job on the 2 satellite speakers of the Logitech Z323 (didn't touch the subwoofer because it will be out of sight)

Here are some pictures about this small mod (sorry I forgot to take some before the mod :/ )

A picture from the original Logitech Z323 without mod, for comparison:

ml

Opened the satellite speaker to remove the 2 pieces that will be painted:

ml

Painted the 2 pieces with the same glossy red paint and put them back in place, here are the results:

ml   lm   ml

How do you find them? Gorgeous?

Mod 9: EVGA Pro SLI Bridge modded to match the theme color

Really easy to do it: separate the pieces, paint them, reassemble it

ml   ml   ml   ml   ml   ml

Mod 10: Small pieces of the case painted too

Well, it was no big work, but small details like that can make a big difference, trust me!

So, here are the parts I'll paint

ml

Paint place

mlml

After several layers, gonna dry the paint in the sun

ml

Here are the parts on the case, pretty good looking so far

ml   ml   ml

Bonus mod: acrylic tubes bending tool

Here is my first prototype for a bending tool, to have precise and good looking bends:
It is made of aluminum, but I think that in wood would be also okay, and less expensive

How you use it:
First you have a ruler that indicate each centimeter.
You put your tube on this table, also on the block that is on the bottom, then you bend your tube to the angle you want (each line correspond to 15°, the bend is made around a cone of aluminum of 20mm of diameter
if you want a larger bend, on the left you tan choose between 20, 40 and 60mm of diameter.
There is also a 20mm diameter cone you can translate, to make a "S" form

If you have access to a CNC to work on metals or wood, feel free to PM me to have the Solidworks blueprints!!!

First a little bit of sanding, so the black paint would stick to the aluminium

ml   ml

Aluminium sanding don't make your hands white or black, but you're grey!!!

ml

After painting

ml   ml   ml   ml

I added our logo

ml   ml

Installation of all the components:

Finally some pics!!!

Hello, and thank you Just a question, does "spoilers" exist here? I really have a lot of images (100+) and more are coming for the mods and the final build (except 200+) QAKE - Modding is Art

I love the paint job you did on the mobo. What was the problem with the paint color? Was it not sticky enough?
