Nice build, hope its very silent, is it?

The arctic is but afaik the corsair psu isn't really.

Yes is silent and well cooled but honesly my rig will stay in other room, like a garage..so doesnt matter

I really like the fact, that this build has to take care of so many different things!

Btw ... if you ever find the time to kind of make guides how you've setup what, that would be awesome!

For now I will not do tutorials, but in future with Luca's help (mostly for english), I will do for sure! BTW, is a cheap rig but I will do something in future for sure, maybe more HDDs or an SSD

If you ever get WOL to work, please tell how. I've tried on my Asus P9x79Pro but it never worked.

P.S what do you use as DLNA server? WMP ?

WOL works if I have my rig in standby, if is OFF sadly doesnt works. On my desktop works always (P67a-ud7-b3 w/SSD), is a kinda weird. I know.
DLNA is only a service without interface, I use it only with Samsung TV that has already a DLNA interface.

[worklog] Home Server #15
In this last period, I have thought about a lot of stuff about my new rig but the last and final idea is build a home server.

Its birth was quite troubled and work is going on a bit slow cause the cost of all, the first project was cheap

The idea was born to be an HTPC to put in the living room but then evolved into first a "server" for remote observation and then finally a full server with different features!

What to do:
- File centralized server
- FTP server
- Backup Server
- Download center
- Media server (DLNA)
- Remote access to home pc
- Surveillance of network eth
- SSH Server
- Web Server
- Switchboard for watching the same channel sky on various TV at home (this is the last point because I have to see economic and legal feasibility-constructive)

Ok let's start from the fact that I'll never to do everything but we try...

For the OS I will use at first WinServer 2012, maybe I will change in future if I do not feel satisfied.

The kit list (will be an upgrade in future maybe, I would use a rack case):
- Case: Silverstone SST-GD07B
- MB: ASUS P8H77-V
- CPU: INTEL Pentium G2020
- Cooler CPU: Arctic Freezer 11 LP (silence!)
- RAM: CORSAIR Vengeance Low Profile 4 Gb (2x2 Gb) ddr3 1600 MHz CL9
- PSU: CORSAIR CX430
- HDD: 1x WD Green 2tb, 2x Seagate 2tb (already have)

Let's start with pics!

Very nice and elegant!

An interesting feature of this case is that the cage HDD / ODD is completely removable, helping a lot during assembly:

Mainboard: I know that B75 was enough for me, but the difference of price is ridiculous. Why ASUS? Well, need an answer?
