Description
If someone would have suggested that mSATA SSD sales would overtake that of notebook form factor SSDs a few years ago, SSD manufacturers would have told them they were nuts. After all, the typical notebook size SSD could replace any hard drive, yet mSATA SSD use was extremely limited, to say the least. The ultrabook was just becoming a vision and, for the most part, the mSATA SSD was limited to Lenovo Thinkpad owners.

Description
The Icy Dock ICYRaid MB662U3-2S, unlike other external USB 3.0 enclosures has the hardware capability to run drives in RAID, independent of the PC. The ICYRaid MB662U3-2S replaces the discontinued MB662UEAB-2S which used the older USB 2.0 and FireWire connection with a much faster and more widely used USB 3.0 port. Users can install a pair of two 3.5” HDDs up to 4TB in capacity each for a total of up to 8GB of storage inside the Icy Dock MB662U3-2S. To cool both drives when they are continuously used, the ICYRaid MB662U3-2S is equipped with a 40mm Sunon MAGLev fan that operates silently and can be adjust through a built-in fan controller. Users can configure drives installed inside the MB662U3-2S in RAID 0, RAID 1, BIG, or JBOD just by simply moving the RAID toggle switch and pressing the reset button while the enclosure is on. No further steps are required, other than formatting the drives or adjust the partition when necessary of course. The Icy Dock ICYRAid MB662U3-2S is compatible with either Mac or PC and comes with a three-year limited warranty.

Description
The stand in particular turned out to be more rugged than I initially thought it would be. Despite that though, a drive mounted on the dock can still shimmy around pretty easily with the slightest touch. Because of this, it is probably best suited for an environment where it's not likely to be disturbed.

The TS-809 Pro Turbo NAS isn't only good on performance; QNAP has provided the full package with many built-in features. This includes print server, webserver, dataserver, multimedia server and download manager to name a very small list. While the TS-809 Pro Turbo NAS commands a premium price, you get a premium product. The only shortcoming is the 1 year warranty but for any digitally inclined household or business, the TS-809 Pro Turbo NAS is seriously worth considering.
