Description
Mit der Synapse hat OCZ ein 64 Gigabyte fassendes Caching-Laufwerk im Angebot. Anhand von Caching-SSDs kann man einen Rechner, beim dem sich das System auf einer Hard Disk befindet, einfach mit einer SSD aufrüsten. Dazu muss die SSD lediglich angeschlossen und eine entsprechende Software installiert werden und das Caching läuft im Hintergrund. Ob dieses Konzept wirklich aufgeht werden wir auf den folgenden Seiten zeigen.

With the Agility 3, OCZ has a Solid State Drive in its portfolio which is based on the latest SandForce SF-2200 series SSD processor. The drive also features SATA-III support and OCZ claims that the drive can reach throughput rates of more than 500 MByte. Also for the IOPS the manufacturer promises sky-high numbers. When writing 4 KByte blocks the drive should be able to hit a whopoing 85'000 IOPS. With the Agility 3 OCZ uses asynchronous NAND Flash and we're really curious if one can spot this from benchmark results.

With the Apex OCZ presents an SSD based on an internal RAID 0 architecture. Therefore two of the latests JMicron Controllers are used to power OCZ newst generation of SSDs. OCZ claims datarates of 230 MByte reading and 160 MByte writing and there should also be no stuttering of the system.
