Late yesterday we got word that ATI would be coming out with a Catalyst 10.3 preview update driver that would increase the performance of more than a dozen PC games. We don't think it's a coincidence that this driver just happens to come out the week before the GeForce GTX 480 graphics card is due to launch at PAX East. It's safe to say that this month we're not expecting a whole lot from the latest driver release for the simple reason being we saw such huge gains from the last two months that it just doesn't makes sense that a whole lot was going to happen this time around.

The end of the month is all very hectic at the moment and straight in the middle of our busiest time ATI have dropped the latest driver on us like clockwork. Combined with the pre-Computex news getting along that there's an NDA lifting on the new mid-range GTX 400 series next week and it's just busy, busy, busy times.

Description
The 29th of July, how scary is that? - One month already down into the second half of the year and what a start to the back end of the year it's been. Really, out of nowhere we've seen NVIDIA bounce back with a model that everyone wants to get their hands on and while ATI at the moment continue to hold the value for money cards, when it comes to the high budget folks it looks like NVIDIA may have taken it in the most important category, the $200 bracket.
