AMDs Prozessoren unterscheiden sich nicht nur in der Anzahl der Kerne, sondern auch im verbauten schnellen Zwischenspeicher, gem sogenannten Cache. Wir gehen der Frage, ob dieser Zwischenspeicher benötigt wird, in Form einer Untersuchung des aktuellen Athlon II X2 und Phenom II X2 mit jeweils 3 GHz auf den Grund.

Description
This family includes five models so far. Two of them are leaving soon. Another one will probably be discontinued later. We've heard some rumors that Core i7 950 won't live through the end of the year either: it may be replaced with the 960. But we decided to test all five processors using our new test method in order to evaluate performance gains of the new models versus old ones. Besides, these results will come in handy to compare with other CPUs from Intel and competitors.

AMD legt heute abermals nach und erhöht den Takt seines Quad-Core-Prozessors Phenom II X4 auf 3,40 GHz. Um diese Taktrate erreichen zu können, musste AMD jedoch die TDP des Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition auf 140 Watt anheben. Dieser Schritt ist uns vom unseeligen Phenom X4 9950 Black Edition noch bestens in Erinnerung, doch diesmal verfügt AMD über ein deutlich besseres Ausgangsmaterial.

With each new release from AMD they are able to fine tune their processors a bit more than before. We are talking about more than just adding a few exta clock cycles or a bump in speed. There are more subtle changes that result in a product that meets consumers needs much better.
