Seasonic equips its 1000 Watt Platinum power supply with a 120 millimeter fan which is very silent. At 20 percent load it's subjectively unhearable. Under 100 percent load the fan starts to rev up and becomes subjectively audible. Seasonic chose to put a Sanyo Denki fan into this power supply which is rated 0.19A at 12 volt.

Basically the Seasonic Platinum 1000 Watt builds on a LLC/full-bridge-circuit topology with DC-DC converter. Unique with this power supply is the additional PCB which carries the connectors for the power management and the current converters and has been placed vertically on top of the main PCB. This design brings the advantage that there are almost no wires in the PSU, which for example results in an optimized airflow. Quite impressive that's what the power factor correction is. At this point you can find three Nippon Chemi-con capacitors which have a capacity of 330uV at 420 volt. You can see that they're not just here for show, when you take a closer look at the PF values measured by 80plus.org. At 20 percent load PF is 0.99, at 50 percent it's 1.00 and at 100 percent it's also 1.00.

With the Platinum 1000 Watt Seasonic makes use of a single rail design. Therefore you find only one 12 volt rail which can be stressed with up to 83A before safety mechanisms start to kick in. Regarding these there is over current protection, over power/load protection, over voltage protection, under voltage protection, short circuit protection and over voltage protection.
