Based on the recent Sandforce 1200 controller, Corsair has a very fast SSD in its portfolio. The Forc 100 GByte shows very consistent performance in all our benchmarks which means that there are no major negative performance impacts. Furthermore this is also a good indicator that the SF1200 is a very sophisticated controller.
During our benchmarks we couldn't reach the claimed performance of 285 MByte/s sequential read and 275 MByte/s sequential write. Our tests showed a peak of 250 MByte/s in seqential reading but on the other hand 288 Mbyte/s sequential writing, which is even more than Corsair writes on its website. If we look at writing small block, which comes very close to an everyday scenario, we see that also in this discipline the 100 GByte Corsair Force drive ranges within the best drives we tested. Its strength definitely is writing no matter if it is sequential or random there it simply beats everything we've ever tested so far.
With the 100 GByte version of their Force drives Corsair shows a SSD that is able to convince with a very consistent performance. With a price per Gigabyte of CHF 4.3 (est. EUR 3.0) it isn't exactly a bargain but if you consider the performance you get it is worth it. We recommend Corsair Force drives to every enthusiast and users who really demand maximum I/O performance.
The Corsair Force SSDs can be bought at Digitec to the following prices:
