Planning and Hardware

During a cosy evening with something to eat ocaholic and ASUS Switzerland sat together at a table and were talking about what an unparalleld mod that is based on ASUS products could look like. It didn't take a long time until Roland Peter from ASUS Switzerland was pretty keen on the project and ideas overcame him. Finally we agreed on building a high-end Gaming PC, that perfeactly fits into ASUS' ROG brand. Therefore we all decided to create an ROG Mod. In this case it was clear the colors will mainly be red and black. In the center of attention there should be the powerful hardware from ASUS, Corsair and Intel as well as the very nice ASUS ROG Logo. Furthermore we wanted a case that shows the precious and powerful hardware and a very cool way, which is why Marc "Besi" Voser came up with a design that features a lot of aerodynamically shaped fins.

At this point it is time to show you the hardware we're going to put into this gaming monster, which comes from our partners ASUS, Corsair and Intel.

  • Motherboard: ASUS Maximus IV Gene-Z
  • CPU: Intel Core i7 2600K
  • Graphics Card: ASUS ENGTX590/3DIS/3GD5
  • RAM: 4 x 4 Gigabyte Dominator GT DDR3 PC3-16000 CL9-10-9-27 @ 1.65 Volt
  • SSD: Corsair Force GT SATA3 240 Gigabyte
  • Power Supply: Corsair Gold AX850

  • As you can see we're putting together a very powerful hardcore gaming machine that is even capable of running NVIDIAs 3D-Vision-Surround smoothly.

Sure, a setup like this in such a cool case also needs an adequate cooling solution, which is why we decided to put to for a powerful water cooling solution, which will be based on two dual fan heat exchangers.

  • 2 x Alphacool NexXxoS Pro II Heat Exchanger Rev. 2 - Dual Heat Exchanger
  • 1 x EK Water Blocks EK-FC590 GTX - Acetal+Nickel
  • 1 x Watercool HK CPU LGA 1155/1156 Rev. 3.0 LT
  • 4 x Enermax T.B.Silence PWM (120 x 120 x 25mm)
  • 6 x 11/8mm (8x1,5mm) nozzle G1/4 90° rotable
  • 5 x Anti Knick Springs 11 mm
  • 8 x Nut 11 mm type 2 - black nickel
  • 4 x 11/8mm (8x1,5mm) nozzle G1/4 - balck nickel
  • 2 x 11/8mm (8x1,5mm) [/de]Anschraubtülle G1/4 45° drehbar - kompakt[/de]nozzel G1/4, 45 degree rotable
  • 3 x ClearFlex60 Tube 11.2 / 8 mm (5/16'' ID)
