In this article we are going to show you our expectations about the performance of the upcoming GK110 from nVidia. Based on the scaling of the Kepler architecture we are able to guess the performance of this GK110 monster through our benchmarking suite. Spoiler Alert!

Introduction

This performance prediction is based on the official specifications of the GK110 GPU. The facts have been revealed earlier last week. As well as on the scaling analysis of the GK104 architecture.

The GK110 features no less than the GK104 with seven additional SMX units and a larger memory bus and therefore more bandwidth. By analyzing the performance scaling in benchmarks and games enabling/disabling SMX units as well as raising/lowering the memory bandwidth we are able to estimate what can be expected from GK110. However the frequencies of the GK110 aren't official by now. In this article we assume the graphics core was to be clocked at 1 GHz and the memory at 1'502 MHz.
As performance index we also added the GTX 670 and 680 clocked at 1 GHz as well as the GTX 680 SLI clocked at 1 GHz too. During the tests we disabled the cards boost clock so they're always working at 1 GHz, no less no more.

Awesome Fazit!

While anything's possible... I think you're dreaming, mate. 8-)

Yeah, the values are really high, but I think a transistor count which is twice as high as GK104 has to make quite a difference. And then there is the memory bandwidth which increases by 50 percent. I'm sure it will be a very noticeable performance gap to the GK104.

btw.
