Even though some raw nrs might still be impressive for the little core2 duo, the game play feeling might be far from... Especially newer titles favour multi core ( 3-4cores) environments. I recall Battlefield Bad Company 2 that was choppy on my E8500@4500Mhz, yet pretty smooth on a Q6600, running at a mere 3ghz. Last week I played BF3 with my GTX580 on a friends 965BE@3600mhz and to be honest couldn't tell the difference during online batlles with my daily i7-3770K@4500mhz setup (same GPU). Indeed sometimes cores matter, sometimes they don't...
