Have you ever wondered what a motherboard will look like after a trip in a washing machine? Well, since there are only crazy people at ocaholic it was kind of easy to find somebody to test this. And guess what: it's on tape! Check out the video, Intel DZ77RE-75K vs Washing Machine at 1'500 RPM, let's fight!

Ivy Bridge Overclocking Guide - Air, Water, LN2

Ivy Bridge overclocking is almost identical to Sandy Bridge overclocking in that it is basically a CPU which is meant to be overclocked through the multiplier and not the base clock (BCLK). Sandy Bridge overclocking brought a whole new level of simplicity to the overclocking realm, a user only needed to change a few voltages, and change some ratios and they were easily granted a huge performance increase.

Extreme Memory Overclocking on Llano

Four weeks ago I was participating at the Llano Overclocking competition at hwbot.org. My processor appeared to be quite good for memory overclocking paired with memory kits powered by Hynix H9C memory chips. I managed some very good results but I wanted to get more out of this setup. So this is what I came up with.

There is a Llano competition running at the moment on HWBot.org sponsored by Gigabyte called ''GIGABYTE X'MAS & New Year Contest''. And at ocaholic we are proud to show you how the young professional overclocker Christian Ney set up his system with the ambitious goal to lead the competition and break two World Records at once.

Triple SLI: Window opened vs. Window closed - Performance comparison

Many overclockers desperatly wait for winter time. There are several reasons: one might be that they get hardware as christmas present, but much more imoprtant is the fact that it's cold outside! This means opening the window give your overclocking rig quite a performance boost and a lot more overclocking headroom. Today were going to check what's possible when outside temperature is zero degree celcius and you open a window one by one meter in size. For this purpose we use our triple SLI test rig which mistreated quite a few times in the past weeks. And honestly, if we wouldn't answer this questions, the world would instantly stop turing!

Right before the year ends we feel like we need to start with a new virtue. In future the ocaholic benchmarking team wants to host bench sessions periodically. The goal is to gather as many points for HWBot as possible and of course we also want to break world records. Anybody who has ever seen us on Livestream knows that something else is also very important to us: fun!

For about one and a half months, the guys from ocaholic have known that they were going to try break memory world records. At an exhibition called IM-Top which was being held by the Swiss distributor Ingram Micro ocaholic was welcome to try break memory world records.

Due to the fact that ten degrees less on a memory module can make a significant difference in overclocking ocaholic decided to develop its very own liquid nitrogen pot for Corsair Dominator modules. In combination with Corsair GTX2 modules Roger (splmann) Tanner and Marc (Besi) Voser gave their best in overclocking these modules driving them at 1.8 VDIMM and very tight 5-7-7-21 timings.
