Completed in 2019

Although we are all still waiting for PCI-Express 4.0 to become available, the PCI-SIG has announced that they are working on the development of PCI-Express 5.0 which is designed to offer 128GB/s of total bandwidth. In other words the total bandwidth would increase by a factor of four compared to the current PCIe 3.0 in the case of a x16 configuration.

300W only for certification

Earlier this week we got some information regarding the upcoming PCI-Express 4.0 standard and while it was believed that it would deliver 300W from the slot, apparently, that will not be the case and the power delivery will remain at 75W.

More power for high-end graphics cards

We already wrote a bit details about the future PCI-Express 4.0 specification but according to the latest information, it appears that it will not only double the bandwidth but also raise the power delivery specification to 300W, eliminating the need for external power on future graphics cards.

Double the bandwidth of PCIe 3.0

While PCI-Express 3.0 device are currently the best you can get, the PCI-Express 4.0 ones are coming and some have been detailed at Intel Developer Conference 2016 held earlier.
